R+L=J Who Are Jon Snow’s Parents? (Spoilers)

“An animated explanation of R+L=J, a Song of Ice and Fire / Game of Thrones fan theory about Jon Snow.

This video contains major spoilers for Book 1 / Season 1, and some minor spoilers/references for Book 2 and Seasons 2-4. Basically, if you’ve read Book 1 or seen Season 1, you can watch this video without having anything significant spoiled.”

Hello nerds! This is one of my favorite fan theories from ASOIF, and as it’s related to one of the series’ most important mysteries I thought you might find it pretty interesting too. I remember noting some of these details while reading the books, but a few of them were new to me. What do you think about this theory? Did they miss something important?

I…had never even remotely considered this, lol. Impressive! It definitely makes me want to go and start at the beginning and read the books. But thinking back, there is an awful lot of talk about Lyanna for being a character you never get to meet, even if she was going to be Robert’s and everything. Though, with Jon’s last chapter at A Dance with Dragons, ***SPOILERS*** I happen to think that Jon died. But only that his body died and he has warged into Ghost. I just can’t imagine a scenario in which his body survives the ambush. So now I’m even more eager for the next book to come out and to read Jon’s next chapter to see what did happen to him, especially with this theory in mind.

I keep forgetting that Jon gets turned into a pincushion at the end of the fifth book… surely he can’t die… to stay alive for five thousand pages just to die like that is unjust! UNJUST! It did appear that Jon warged into Ghost though, I remember that. Could his consciousness survive in Ghost? Could he ever leave that body? COULD HE WARG OUT OF GHOST INTO A DRAGON!?! Mind = blown.

SUCH QUESTIONS. I would be surprised if he just…died though. I bet a dragon would be hard to warg! And I thought of something else! In Dance with Dragons, it is revealed that ***SPOILERS*** Aegon is actually still alive and The Mountain never killed him (Oh, Oberyon, you died partially in vain). So how would that play into this theory? I was going to question his total lack of any sort of Targaryen appearance, but I suppose it could just be said that the Stark genes were more dominant.
